Satisfying the Violence Against Women Act

The long-awaited Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022 updated and expanded VAWA 2013. Although the law is wide-ranging and added numerous federal programs and grants, the focus of this class will be the provisions applicable to housing, some of which are listed below. Additional topics include the VAWA 2013 Final Rule and provisions, tenant selection plans, and a recap of where each funding source stands until the VAWA 2022 final guidance is issued. 

• New covered housing programs
• Non-retaliation and non-coercion provisions
• Reporting crimes without penalty
• Compliance reviews and enforcement
